Trim, Meath
This column was erected in 1817 commemorating the Duke of Wellington who was educated in Trim, stood for Parliament for this area and later became the Prime Minister of England in 1828....

Navan, Meath
Donaghmore, site of an Early Christian settlement. A fine round tower from the tenth century remains. The doorway, twelve feet from the ground, has inclined jambs and a semicircular head; on the keystone is scultpured a figure of a crucified christ, and on each side of the architrave is a sculptured human head. There are also some remains of a 15th century church near by....

Ashbourne, Meath
Ashborne is a thriving village. On the northern outskirts of the village is a monument to the only major incident of the 1916 Easter Rebellion to take place outside Dublin. This monument carries a plaque inscribed with a line from a poem by Thomas Ashe, the local schoolmaster at that time: 'Let me carry your cross for Ireland, Lord'. The monument has a dual image - on one side the figure is in the form of Christ on the other insurgent....
